OLEAN MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CHARGE

BUFFALO, N.Y.-U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced today that Greg Hirliman, 48, of Olean, NY, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo to attempted receipt of child pornography, which carries a mandatory minimum penalty of five years in prison, a maximum of 20 years, and a $250,000 fine.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Aaron J. Mango, who is handling the case, stated that between September 11, 2021, and July 5, 2022, Hirliman engaged in sexual communications with a minor victim via Facebook. Hirliman made multiple requests to the victim for naked images and videos. Hirliman also admits that on one occasion, he engaged in sexual intercourse with the victim, knowing she was a minor.

The plea is the result of an investigation by the Olean Police Department, under the direction of Chief Ron Richardson, Homeland Security Investigations, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Erin Keegan, and the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office, under the direction of Sheriff Eric Butler.

Sentencing is scheduled for July 21, 2025, before Judge Vilardo.
