ALBANY – Assemblyman Joe Sempolinski has been appointed as an alternate designee to the Joint Budget Conference Committee for Mental Hygiene.
Assemblyman Sempolinski is the Ranking Member of the Assembly Mental Health Committee. During the Mental Hygiene Budget Hearing in February, he was involved in the hearing as Ranking Member of the Mental Health Committee and a member of the Assembly People with Disabilities Committee.
Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay chose Assemblyman Sempolinski as an alternate designee for the Joint Budget Conference Committee.
“I want to thank Leader Barclay for the confidence he’s shown in me. It’s an incredible honor to be appointed to this joint conference committee and I know how important these services are to thousands of New Yorkers and my constituents in the 148th District. I don’t take this responsibility lightly,” Assemblyman Sempolinski said.
“Mental health care has historically been inaccessible, particularly in rural areas of the state like the one I call home. It’s also been heavily stigmatized in the past. While strides are made, there is still work to be done. The job is now to ensure that essential care services remain in place and responsible spending is implemented by this state. I’m eager to begin this work and look forward to keeping the public updated on what they can expect,” Assemblyman Sempolinski added.
Assemblyman Joe Sempolinski represents the 148th New York Assembly District, which consists of all of Cattaraugus and Allegany counties and portions of Steuben County. For more information, visit Assemblyman Sempolinski’s website.
