WEST CLARKSVILLE – Cheryl I. Sharp, 79, of 2341 Route 305,
West Clarksville, passed away Saturday (March 15, 2025) at Cuba Memorial
Hospital after a short illness.
She was born on January 25, 1946. On Oct. 15, 1965, in Richburg Baptist Church,
she married the former Gerald L. Sharp, who predeceased her on October 21,
2017.
Cheryl was a graduate of Richburg Central School Class of
1964. She was the secretary/treasurer
for the Richburg Alumni Association for 26 years.
Cheryl was a charter member and life member of the
Clarksville Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary and held the offices of President,
Secretary and Treasurer. She also served
on the Board of Fire Commissioners as Secretary and Treasurer for 16 years,
retiring in 2015. At election time she
worked the polls and helped with budget votes at the Richburg and
Bolivar-Richburg Schools.
Over the years, she enjoyed crocheting, visiting with family
and friends, bowling, helping others, and spending time at Deb’s Lil Diner in
West Clarksville. She liked going to the
movies, reading, baking, playing board games, cards, and camping. While her daughter was younger, she was
involved with the Brownie Troop for Girl Scouts.
She is survived by her children, Daya (Mike) Gaines of
Wellsville, Darin Sharp of Port Allegany, Pa., and Dara Geyer of Belfast;
grandchildren, Jennifer Sharp, Daniel Geyer and Braeden Geyer; a
great-granddaughter Nora Sharp, several nieces and nephews, a son in law Joe
Geyer of Belfast, and sisters in law Dail Ellis, Linda (Greg) Kellogg, and
Anita Sharp.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased
by a son, Mark Sharp, in 2005; and a grandson, Matthew Sharp, in 2017, her in
laws Dale and Gladys Sharp, sisters Jean Crichton, Margaret Willard, Dorothy
Rinker, and Emily Kerswill, a brother Samuel Kerswill, a sister-in-law Wendy
Sharp Hughes and a brother in law Mike Sharp.
Friends will be received at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home
& Memorial Service, Inc., 9 Bull Street, Cuba, on Saturday, March 22, 2025
from 10:00 A.M. Until Noon at which time a funeral service will begin. The Rev. Robert Mackmer will officiate.
