Obituary: Gary C. Carr, 79, formerly of Friendship

Gary C. Carr, 79, formerly of White Creek Road, Friendship, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at the Wellsville Manor Care Center after a lengthy illness.

Born on June 3, 1945, in Rochester, he was a son of Denzil M. and Marion L. Schillinger Carr.  On September 9, 1975, in Churchville, he married the former Catherine Bishop who predeceased him on September 30, 2023.

Gary was a graduate of Churchville-Chili School.  He served in the United States Navy from September 10, 1963 until August 22, 1967 and received the National Defense Service Medal. 

He worked for Kodak in Rochester as an electrician for many years prior to his retirement.

Gary was a member of Our Lady of Angels Church in Cuba, where he served in several capacities within the church including religious education coordinator and the Cuba-Friendship Masonic Lodge #306 F&AM, rising through the chairs. 

He was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed primitive camping, horses, sailing on his sailboat with his wife, and was proud to have hiked part of the Appalachian Trail.

He is survived by a son Kenneth Carr of Rochester, two daughters Julie Ann Carr of Buffalo, Cindy Mungillo of Rochester; Several Grandchildren; a brother Denny (Sheary) Carr of Belfast.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by three daughters Julie Hawkins, Mary Ellen McPhail, and Margaret Friedrich, and a son Charles Friedrich.

At his request there will be no services.
