Obituary: Phyllis A. Burt, 88, of Olean, and formerly of Black Creek

 

Phyllis A. Burt:  Loving Mother, Grandmother, and Sister

Phyllis A. Burt, 88, of Olean, and formerly of Habgood Road, Black Creek, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2025 at the Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center after a lengthy illness.

Born on November 17, 1936, in Tuscarora, New York, she was a daughter of Leland and Ruth (Jaggard) Thompson.  On April 9, 1955 she married John W. Burt who predeceased her on February 20, 2005.

Phyllis was employed as an Assembler for Acme Electric in Cuba prior to her retirement.

She enjoyed reading books, puzzles, and was an avid Buffalo Bills fan.  She was a member of the Cuba VFW Post 2721 Auxiliary. She is survived by her children Terry (Lindsey Miller) Burt of Cuba, Tammy (James) Comes of Cuba, Tim (Helene Knaub) Burt of Greece, Tracy (Rebecca) Burt of Cuba; 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; Sisters Gloria (Joe) Gross of Cuba, Marilyn Schneider of Greece, Joanie Thomspon of Victor; Several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by twin sons Kermit and Kevin Burt whom died in infancy, a grandson Derek Burt, two brothers Leonard and Maynard and a sister Janice Carpenter.

Friends may call at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 9 Bull Street, Cuba, on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 from 6-8 P.M. and again on Thursday, March 13, 2025 from 10-11:00 A.M.  A Funeral Service will begin at 11:00.  Pastor Claudia Little will officiate.
