Region 4 Beef Producers Annual Meeting

We will be having the annual meeting for Region 4 Beef Producers on Saturday, March 23 at the Alfred State College Farm 1254 State Route 244 Alfred, NY 14802. Program will begin at 1:15 pm and includes lunch. The cost is $15 per person for adults, $5 for youth 10 and under. Event is open to all interested beef and dairy producers. Agenda for the afternoon:

Welcome & Tour of Alfred State College Livestock Facilities – Phil Schroeder, Chair Agriculture and Veterinary Technology Dept, Alfred State College – Opportunity to see the facilities and learn about the expansion of livestock educational events and courses offered at the college.


Guest Speakers:

Heidi Nicholas will be presenting Empire Livestock – Vision & Plans for the Future. Heidi is the owner of six Empire Livestock sale barns across the state. She will join us to talk about her concept and ideas for Empire Livestock including ramping up of the beef marketing sales, renovation of barns, bringing in out of state buyers, and board sales.


Benefits of Artificial Insemination, Understanding EPDs with Jerry Emerich, Dairy & Beef Coordinator at Premier Select Sires. Jerry was born and raised on a dairy farm in western Ohio and attended Ohio State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree, after graduating he began working for Select Sires.

Business meeting – election of officers, brief discussion on program ideas for 2024/2025.


Pre-reservations for the meeting requested by March 15th to assist with lunch planning. Membership in the beef producer association is not required to attend. New memberships and renewals will be accepted at the meeting, drawing will be held for 1 free membership or renewal. The New York Beef Producers Association is a member driven organization, there will be an opportunity at this meeting to discuss and plan future events to be held in the region while networking with other beef producers.
