Roxanna Dwyer  “beloved mother, grandmother, and aunt”

COUDERSPORT, Pa. – Roxanna “Roxy” Dwyer, 82, a lifelong resident of Coudersport, passed on Thursday, March 7, 2024,  at UPMC Cole Place, Coudersport, after a lengthy illness.

Born July 7, 1941, in Coudersport, PA, she was the daughter of the late Edgar D. and Betty French Brewer.  On May 5, 1970, she married the love of her life, Andrew J. Dwyer, who passed away on September 16, 2019.

Roxy was a member of the wonderful CHS Class of 1959 and served as the Senior Class Secretary. After graduation, she attended Fairmont State University, WV, and St. Bonaventure University, NY, majoring in English. She held many jobs: telephone operator, bookkeeper for her father’s Central Buick Garage, owner-operator in the trucking industry, and outbound telephone sales. Roxy loved children and enjoyed teaching CCD classes for many years at St. Eulalia. She also loved animals, especially dogs, and her chestnut gelding, Jimmy Boy. Roxy was an accomplished rider, an excellent dancer, and an amazing singer,  blessed with a beautiful soprano voice. She was also the family photographer, compiling hundreds of photos over the years. Roxy loved to travel and was fortunate to travel across the country with Andrew in their 18-wheeler. She enjoyed Disney World with her grandchildren, and several cruises, including a trip to Italy where she was able to visit the Vatican, a life-long dream. She was unselfish to a fault, often neglecting her own needs for the needs and well-being of her family.

Surviving are two daughters, Jalyn Tezik, her husband Jarrod and their daughter Torie (Tyler) and Amy Dwyer-Kelly, her husband Edward and their daughters, Karlee and Kylee; her brother-in-law, William Bollhorst; nephews, Daniel Bollhorst, James (Lori) Bollhorst, Timothy (Michelle) Hunt, and Patrick (Janet) Hunt; and nieces, Tamara (John) Setzer and Mary Lynn Hunt; and several great nieces, nephews and cousins whom she dearly loved.

In addition to her parents and husband, Roxy was preceded in death by her sister, Penny Bollhorst;  her sister-in-law, Mary Dwyer Hunt; brother-in-law, Gerard Hunt; and nephew, Sean Hunt.

Family and friends may call on Thursday, March 14, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the gathering space at St. Eulalia Catholic Church, Coudersport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Christopher Wheeler, pastor, as celebrant. The burial will be in St. Eulalia Catholic Cemetery, Coudersport.

Roxy always wanted an Irish wake, so please honor her with a drink in her memory. Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Eulalia Catholic Church, 6 Maple Street, Coudersport, PA  16915, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Roxy’s family has entrusted her care to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
