Obituary: Chantel L. Cline, 45, Friendship

Friendship - Chantel L. Cline passed away unexpectedly on March 9, 2024.

She was born in Hornell, NY July 3, 1978, she was the daughter of Edward W. Gordon and Carolyn Reniff Gordon. She was predeceased by her dad in April of 2004. Chantel was in the last graduating class from Angelica Central School in 1996. From there, she went on to graduate from Corning Community College.

While growing up in Allegany County, Chantel had four strong women as important role models in her life, each holding a special place in her heart. These women are Judy Pomeroy, Brenda Green-Vaughn, Pam Hutchison, and Cindy Davis.

In 2002, Chantel gave birth to her son, Jakobe, an absolute blessing. She had always wanted a son and he was just perfect. She worked extra hard to ensure that Jakobe had everything in life that he needed. She was so proud of Jakobe and everything he accomplished.

Chantel met Eric and they dated for 8 years before marrying in August of 2012. While being polar opposites, their relationship just worked. Eric used to love to get in the X3 and go as fast as he could, while Chantel would be in the passenger seat, telling him to slow down. He’d give her that smile and say “You’re as safe as a toad in Gods pocket” then he’d slow down.

Chantel’s younger sister, Cheylyn was an important part of her life. While they rarely saw each other in person, they watched each other’s children grow up via the internet. Rarely a day passed that the sisters did not message each other at least once, if not 100 times.

Chantel is survived by her mother, Carolyn Reniff Gordon, her husband and rock Eric Cline, her amazing and wonderful son Jakobe Gordon, her talented sister Cheylyn (Raymond) Adams along with their children Davia, Jase, Abriauna, and Callan, along with special kids Addie and Gus.

The family will be present to receive friends on Thursday (March 14, 2024) from 11am-2pm at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home 101 West Avenue in Angelica. The family will have a private funeral and graveside service.

Donations can be made to S.T.A.R. Rescue or the Allegany County Saddle Dusters.
