Man killed in Livingston County crash

LIVONIA - Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty advises of a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred in the Town of Livonia. On February 20th , 2024, at approximately 4:12 p.m., Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the area of Bronson Hill Road and Stone Hill Road in the Town of Livonia for the report of a two-car motor vehicle crash with serious injuries. The preliminary investigation revealed that a commercial dump truck was traveling southbound on Bronson Hill Road, when a passenger vehicle being operated by Valentine Nguyen, age 21 of Geneseo, failed to yield the right of way at the stop sign located at the intersection of Stone Hill Road and Bronson Hill Road. The vehicle pulled into the path of the oncoming dump truck. The dump truck was unable to avoid the collision, causing heavy damage to the passenger vehicle and life threatening injuries to its occupants. Nguyen was pronounced deceased at the scene. A single adult passenger inside the vehicle was extricated by Fire personnel and transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. Investigating the crash for the Sheriff’s Office were members of the Patrol Division, Criminal Investigations Division, Forensic Identification Unit, Drone Unit, Drug Recognition Unit, Commercial Vehicle Unit, and Communications Bureau. Assisting at the scene were the Lakeville Fire Department, the Livonia Fire Department, Livonia EMS, Livingston County Advanced Life Support and Livingston County EMS. The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office with the preliminary findings being non-criminal in nature.
