A Cuba man was killed after falling through the ice on Cuba
Lake. The scene unfolded Saturday afternoon near his home on West Shore Road.
Daniel Whitford was pronounced dead at Olean General. A second man also fell
through the ice but his condition is unknown. Attempts to reach Cuba Police
Chief Dustin Burch have been unsuccessful. Cuba fire chief Justin Sweet told the (Olean) Times “ It’s sad.” The
investigation continues.
