Obituary: William D. “Will” Rhude, 37, Canisteo - born in Wellsville
CANISTEO: The world lost and incredible young man. William D. “Will” Rhude entered heaven at 12:40 a.m. on 12/12/2020. He was an amazing son, husband, father, brother, nephew, and friend to many. He lived life on his own terms, and faced challenges head on, without complaints or fear, including his diagnosis with ALS. The last 6 years proved that to anyone who was blessed enough to be in his circle.
Will was born March 13, 1983 in Wellsville to Ronald Rhude and Jo Ellen (Leasure) York. On November 14, 2015, in Hornell, he married the former Theresa Houghtelling who resides in Canisteo.
Will was a graduate of Canisteo-Greenwood Central School class of 2003 and a graduate of Alfred State College in 2006. After graduation he moved to Savannah, Georgia for several years before moving back to the home town that he loved and wanted to raise his family. He had been employed as a mechanic at the Alstom Co. in Hornell prior to falling ill.
In addition to his wife Theresa, Will is survived by two daughters, Nevaeh Jo and Gemma Grace Rhude both at home, his mother Jo Ellen (Leasure) York (Darrell) of Belle Haven, his father Ronald D. Rhude (Jane) of Avoca, a sister Sandra (Ben) Burdick of Canisteo, brother Ryan (Jennifer) York of Augusta, SC and a sister, Meagan York of Canisteo.
He is also survived by a niece and 6 nephews, Daniel, Tyler and Jase Burdick, Cooper York, Lucas Williams, Lilly Graham and Tristan Randall, his in-laws, Jimmie and Carol Houghtelling of Canisteo and sister-in-law Camilla Houghtelling of Canisteo. Several aunts, uncles and cousins.
At Will’s request there will be no calling hours or service at this time, a celebration of his life will be scheduled and announced a later date in 2021.
