Obituary: Louise "Weezie" Kemp (Beck) of Seymour, TN - former Wellsville police dispatcher

Louise "Weezie" Kemp (Beck) of Seymour, TN crossed the finish line of her earthly journey on December 22, 2020 in Knoxville, TN. She was 71 years young.

Louise is survived by her husband Dick Kemp of Seymour, TN, son Garry Reynolds of Clifton Springs, NY, daughter Renee Van Druff of Tokyo, Japan, step-son Ronald Kemp of Lincoln, CA and step-daughter Theresa Kemp of Hornell, NY, She is also survived by three sisters: Helen McDonald, Ella Savey, and Irene Gilbert and one brother Howard Beck of Texas. She had 8 grand-children and one great-grandchild as well as many step-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Margaret Beck (Young) and Howard Beck and two sisters Peggy Rice and Nancy Steineger.

Louise was born on February 2, 1949 in Horseheads, NY and lived much of her adult life in Wellsville, NY where she worked as a police dispatcher for 24 years. Many of the young officers she worked with thought of her as a second mother because of the loving care she showed them.

To know Louise was to be loved by her, as she had the gift of making everyone she met an instant friend. She was an avid quilter and crafter and delighted in making things for family, friends, and numerous charities. She made quilts for veterans and to be donated to hospice houses; she sewed and donated hats for babies in the NICU and cancer patients who were going through chemo. She recently sewed many masks to help protect people from Covid-19. Her latest project was sewing dog pillows for a local organization. Louise found great joy in giving away everything that she made. In true Louise fashion her will stated that she wanted to give her entire body to science. Unfortunately COVID prevented her from giving this last gift, but the many hundreds of other gifts she made and shared will be our constant reminders of what it means to give and to love like Louise did.

Due to the constraints of the pandemic there will be no memorial services at this time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to one of mom’s favorite charities “Quilts of Valor” at the following website: https://www.qovf.org/donate/
