Obituary: Ray S. Truax, 67, of Harrison Valley, PA

Ray S. Truax, 67, of Harrison Valley, PA, died Tuesday, December 22, 2020 in UPMC Williamsport.  Born June 11, 1953, in Wellsboro, he was the son of George W. and Donna R. Weiss Truax.  On June 28, 1974, in Harrison Valley, he married the love of his life, Sharon L. Metcalf, who survives.  They were happily married for nearly 47 years.  Ray was a 1971 graduate of Northern Potter High School.  “Tuna,” as he was known, worked for Eberle Tanning Company, Edwin Kibbe Construction, Ulysses Agway serving local farmers, and bus driver in the Northern Potter School District.  He and Sherrie owned and operated Kibbe’s Tru-Mart serving the Harrison Valley community.  Ray was also a dedicated PennDOT worker for 20 years.  He was the most devoted husband, father, and grandfather.  Nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his family.  He enjoyed riding four wheelers and snowmobiles and was a proud supporter of the Harrison Valley Ballpark, where he loved to play and watch softball and baseball.  

Surviving besides his wife, Sherrie, are:  a daughter, Angela (Mark) Lewis of Harrison Valley;  three grandchildren, Malachi Lewis, Moriah Lewis, and Mattea Lewis;  a brother, Samuel (Jackie Knapp) Truax of Campbell, NY;  two sisters, Judith (Larry Fisher) Phelps of Mills and Valerie (Michael) Fitzwater of The Villages, FL;  an uncle, Robert (Mary Ann) Weiss of Horseheads, NY;  his mother-in-law, Betty Metcalf of Harrison Valley;  a brother-in-law, Larry (Tammy Heck) Metcalf of Harrison Valley;  nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and cousins.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Owen D. Truax.
