Eileen F. Lumpp “Loving Wife, Mother & Grandmother”
OLEAN - Eileen F. Lumpp, of 202 South 16th Street, passed away Friday, August 28, 2020 at the Olean General Hospital, following an illness.
Eileen was born on August 23, 1933 in Skibbereen County Cork, Ireland and was the daughter of Jermiah and Mary Donovan Casey. On November 30, 1963 in New York City, she married the love of her life and husband of 56 years, Manfred “Fred” Lumpp, who survives.
Eileen grew up in Ireland. After her high school graduation, she continued her education at a Culinary Arts School in Ireland. In the early 1960's, she moved to the United States and was employed as a personal chef for Governor Harriman in Gracy Mansion for about 3 years. Eileen and her husband moved to Friendship, where she raised her family and was a care taker at the Sacred Heart Church cooking and caring for the local clergy. She also did private home health care in Friendship for many years before moving to Olean, where she started working for The Pines in the housekeeping department for the next 6 years.
Eileen was known for her cooking, baking, sewing and her plants. She was a spunky lady with a good sense of humor but most of all she loved spending time with and taking care of her family.
Along with her loving husband, Eileen is survived by; 3 daughters, Hilda K. (Terry Payne) McElwee of Cuba, Gisela (Mike) Fleming of Friendship, and Maureena (Chris) Chamberlain of Belmont; 5 grandchildren Kyle, Kelsey, Lindsey, Erin, and Emily; a great grandson Lukas; a sister Margaret O’Sullivan of New York City; a niece Elizabeth; and a nephew Brian.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 p.m. at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 East State Street, Olean. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Maronite Rite Catholic Church, 1102 Walnut Street, Olean. The Rev. Tanios Mouanes, Pastor, will celebrate. Burial will be at St. Bonaventure Cemetery in Allegany, NY.
