McCormick reflects on former Election Commissioner Rick Hollis

Former Allegany County Election Commissioner Rick Hollis died Sunday in Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville. He served the community in several organizations: a volunteer firefighter and Safety Officer in the Short Tract Volunteer Fire Company; a trained Certified First Responder with the William P. Brooks Hose Co. Rescue Squad; an elected Town of Granger Councilman and later Town Supervisor; a member of the Allegany County Planning Board holding the positions of Vice Chairman and Chairman; a member of the Allegany County Republican Committee and an elected New York State Republican Committeeman.
Mike McCormick of Andover, a current county Election Commissioner, took time Monday to reflect on Hollis. “I got to know Rick in 2013. When he worked as a Commissioner, he wasn’t partisan (as a Commissioner), he was for the voting public and the candidate,” McCormick said. He added, “Rick spent a lot of time making sure our polling sites were ADA complaint.” McCormick said “on a personal side, Rick had a great residence in the Town of Granger and he was proud of that. Rick was a good working man. He’ll be missed in Allegany County. In the end, I considered Rick a good, close personal friend.”
At Rick’s request there will be no visitation. A private funeral service will be held at Kopler-Williams Funeral Home, 21 N. Genesee Street, Fillmore.
Memorials if desired to: William P. Brooks Hose Co. Rescue Squad, Box 238, Fillmore or Allegany County Cancer Services, Attn: Lori Ballengee, 100 South Highland Ave., Wellsville, NY 14895.
