Red Flag warning issued for region

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM THIS MORNING TO 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING FOR WIND AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR WESTERN NEW YORK...

The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a Red Flag
Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect
from 10 AM this morning to 8 PM EDT this evening.

* AFFECTED AREA...Niagara, Orleans, Monroe, Wayne, Erie, Genesee,
   Wyoming, Livingston, Ontario, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and
  Allegany counties.

* TIMING...From late this morning through early this evening.

* WINDS...Southwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 24 percent.

* IMPACTS...The potential exists for rapid development and
  spread of wild fires...or for prescribed burns to get out of
  control. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that dangerous fire weather conditions
are expected due to the combination of gusty winds...low relative
humidities...and dry fuels. Any fires that develop may quickly
get out of control and become difficult to contain.

A New York State Burn Ban prohibits outdoor open burning between
March 16th and May 14th.
