Fillmore - Lowell B. Fancher of 93 W. Main Street died
peacefully, at the age of 92, on Thursday, May 10, 2018 in his home. He was
born on March 22, 1926 in Houghton, a son of the late Ralph and Lulu Belle Reed
Fancher. On August 27, 1949 in Cuba he married Lois Irene Gillette who
survives.
A veteran of World War II, Lowell served in the 41st
Infantry Division during the Philippine Campaign in the Pacific Theater and
spent 10 months following the cessation of hostilities as part of the United
States occupation forces in Japan, where he gained a great appreciation for the
Japanese people.
He retired from working at the Houghton College Press after
44 years and as a bus driver for Fillmore Central School for 39 years. Surviving
in addition to his wife are their sons, L. Bernard Fancher Jr., Jeffrey E.
Fancher, David M. Fancher, Paul C. (Antoinette) Fancher; two grandchildren,
Keli (Jorlanda) and Gabrielle, four great-grandchildren, a twin sister, Laura
Fancher of Rochester and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by three
siblings, Lillis, Lester and James.
Family and friends may gather from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on
Sunday, May 13, 2018 at the Kopler-Williams Funeral Home, 21 N. Genesee Street,
Fillmore and from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 14, 2018 at the Friends in
Christ United Methodist Church where a funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m.
Rev. Nancy Russell will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery,
