Obituary: Robert A. Worthington, 67, Cuba

CUBA — Robert A. Worthington, of 3577 Wolf Creek Road, Cuba, passed away unexpectedly Monday (April 9, 2018) on his 67th birthday, shortly after arrival at Olean General Hospital. Born April 9, 1951, in Sayre, Pa., he was the son of Harley and Eunice Clark Worthington. On July 7, 1973, in Hinsdale, he married Elaine Shaffer, who survives. Robert first worked at AVX in Olean. He later worked for many years at St. Bonaventure University in the maintenance department and then in the carpentry shop. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed woodworking, but most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Kay Kerswill of Cuba, Brent (Laryessa) Worthington of Crofton, Md., and Jan Jefferies of Cuba; seven grandchildren, Madison, Aidan, Colston, Collin, Brenna, Layla and Eliana; seven siblings, Lyle Worthington of Eldred, Pa., John Worthington of Eldred, Audrey Sweitzer of Lewiston, Pa., Connie Sikes of Shinglehouse, Pa., Harold Worthington of Olean, Diane Harvey of Eldred and William Worthington of Shinglehouse; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Patricia Shaffer, Doris Schoonover and Phyllis Worthington. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday (April 13, 2018) at Guenther Funeral Home, 1303 E. State St., Olean. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday (April 14, 2018) at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hinsdale Cemetery, in Maplehurst.
