The New York State Police issue nearly 10,500 tickets during July 4th enforcement campaign

PRESS RELEASE
The New York State Police issued a total of 10,435 tickets statewide during the 4th of July STOP-DWI enforcement campaign. 
The special enforcement period began on Saturday, July 1, 2017 and continued until midnight on Tuesday, July 4, 2017. 
During the 96-hour campaign, which was funded by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee, State Police utilized sobriety checkpoints, additional DWI patrols, ticketed distracted drivers, and conducted underage drinking details. 
Troopers arrested 240 people for DWI and investigated 152 accidents, which resulted in 248 people being injured and three fatalities. 
As part of the enforcement, Troopers also targeted speeding and aggressive drivers across the state. Below is a sampling of the total tickets that were issued.

During last year’s 4th of July enforcement campaign, the State Police issued 10,882 total tickets and arrested 206 people for DWI.
