Hornell - Governor Cuomo announced that St. James Mercy Hospital will receive $7.9 million in funding to support the development of its planned new facility on Seneca Road.
"Transforming health care in Hornell has been the focus of much time and effort for us and our colleagues at the University of Rochester Medical Center," said Jennifer L. Sullivan, President and CEO of St. James Mercy Hospital. "Today’s announcement further illustrates the state’s commitment to rural health care, and its support of our vision for a Medical Village that provides convenient, accessible care to the residents of the Hornell area." In 2016, the Hospital was awarded $54.9 million in funding to support the development of a new facility and the implementation of a state-of-the-art Electronic Health Records (EHR) system. Construction is currently scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2017. The funding announced today comes from the Statewide Health Care Facility Transformation Program, designed to reduce health care costs and improve health outcomes for New Yorkers by expanding access to inpatient, primary, preventative, and other ambulatory care services as part of regionally integrated healthcare delivery systems. St. James Mercy Hospital was founded in 1890 and now provides a full range of inpatient and outpatient services, including emergency, acute medical and surgical, imaging, and laboratory. Specialty services include orthopedics, general surgery, physical therapy, Express Care, mammography, digital imaging, a Coumadin clinic, cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, and a personal emergency response system called MercyLine. The Hospital works on an ongoing basis to build collaborative relationships with a host of regional partners, in order to ensure the continued continuity of critical health care services in the Hornell community.
