Canisteo woman faces drug counts

INTERSTATE 390: Livingston County Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of a Canisteo NY woman for drug related charges after a traffic stop on Interstate 390. On July 22, 2017, Deputy Matthew Thomas, who was assigned to the Sheriff’s STOP DWI Unit, stopped a vehicle for vehicle and traffic violations. During the course of the traffic stop, the Deputy Sheriff checked the New York State DMV database and learned that the operator’s privilege to operate a motor vehicle in New York State had been suspended and also located 3 hypodermic needles.
The operator of the vehicle, 42 year old Angela Dixon, was arrested for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the Third Degree, as well as Criminal Possession of a Hypodermic Instrument.
Dixon was turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention. Once inside the facility, Dixon was found to be in possession of 5 bags of heroin that were concealed on her person to avoid detection.
Dixon was then additionally charged with the felony of Promoting Prison Contraband in the first degree.
Dixon was later arraigned in the Village of Geneseo Court before Justice Bushnell.  The Judge did remand Dixon to the custody of the Sheriff on $5,000 cash/$10,000 bond for the Prison Contraband charge and $250/$500 on the Hypodermic charge.
