Joseph Henry Thompson, 84 of 9223 Beebe Hill Rd., Cuba
passed away Monday, July 24, 2017 surrounded by his family after a period of
ill health.
Born on August 17, 1933, in Franklinville, he was a son of
Ray and Muriel Stevens Thompson. On
November 22, 1952 in the West Clarksville Baptist Church he married his beloved
wife of 65 years the former Nancy E. Oliver who survives.
Joe was a graduate of Richburg Central School Class of
1952. After graduation he went to work
for Acme Electric Corp. in Cuba and also worked a second job at Cuba Cheese for
many years. From there he went on to
work as a Senior Claims Adjuster for Chubb Insurance Company where he worked
for the next twenty years retiring in 1995.
He was a member of the Cuba-Friendship Mason Lodge 306
F&AM where he was a third degree mason, a member of the Ismailia Cart
Corps, a member and Past Grand Patron of McKee Chapter 212 Order of the Eastern
Star, past president of the Hinsdale Fire Department, a lifetime social member
of the Cuba VFW Post 2721, and was a former Town of Cuba Councilman for several
years.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Nancy are his Children, Vicki
(Michael) Hook of Marco Island, FL, Ronn (Angela) Thompson of Shinglehouse, PA,
Scott (Doreen) Thompson of Little Elm, TX; 10 grandchildren, 10 great
grandchildren; Several Nieces and Nephews as well as his extended family,
including all those friends who knew him as “Uncle Joe”.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his
siblings Raymond, Wilba, Rexford, Glendon, and Thelma, and a son Dean.
The Family will receive friends at the Mark F. Rinker
Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 9 Bull Street, Cuba on Wednesday,
July 26, 2017 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. where funeral services will be held on
Thursday, July 27, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.
The Rev. Timothy Gleason, will officiate.
Burial will be in Cuba Cemetery, Cuba, New York.
Members of McKee Chapter 212 O.E.S and Cuba-Friendship Lodge
305 F&AM will assemble in the Funeral Home Wednesday Evening at 6:45 p.m.
for services.
