Jury convicts Allegany County man of 1st degree rape

Skyler Carlson, 19, of Little Genesee, New York, was convicted, following a jury trial in the Cattaraugus County Court of Rape in the First Degree, a class B violent felony; Criminal Sexual Act in the First Degree, a class B violent felony and Rape in the Third Degree, a class E felony. The case arose from the defendant’s actions on June 25, 2016 and June 26, 2016, in the Town of Allegany. Cattaraugus County District Attorney Lori P. Rieman credits First Assistant District Attorney Amber L. Kerling, who handled the case from the beginning, and at trial, she also credits the hard work and dedication of the New York State Police, including Investigator Matthew Stegner and Trooper Jordan Gleason. Sentencing is scheduled for September 25, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. in the Cattaraugus County Court, Little Valley, New York. At this time, Carlson is free under supervision until he is sentenced.
