Driver charged with manslaughter in Wyoming County fatal crash

Joshua Huntress, of Mayville, NY has been charged following a fatal motor accident which occurred on State Route 20A in the Town of Orangeville on Sunday, July 9th.  Huntress was arrested for Manslaughter in the second degree, Driving while ability impaired by drugs and several other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. Huntress was arraigned in the Town of Warsaw Court and remanded to Wyoming County Jail in lieu of $250,000 cash bail.  Huntress will be returned to Warsaw Town Court on a future date for further proceedings.

The New York State Police in Warsaw, along with the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office and Wyoming County District Attorney’s Office are investigating a fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred earlier today on State Route 20A in the Town of Orangeville, Wyoming County. At approximately 11:45 am, a vehicle being operated by Joshua D. Huntress, of Mayville, NY, was traveling west on State Route 20A when he crossed into the eastbound lane and struck two oncoming motorcycles, each with a passenger. One of the motorcycle passengers, Tomasa Martinez, age 66, of North Tonawanda, NY was transported to Wyoming County Community Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. The three other motorcycle occupants were transported to Erie County Medical Center where they are being treated for their injuries. The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending against Huntress.
