North Hornell- Bernice R. Greenthal, 84, passed away peacefully, Thursday (March 16, 2017) at Highland Healthcare, in Wellsville.
Born in Hornell, February 15, 1933, the daughter of Frederick and Louise (Slatt) Pulkowsky, she was a lifelong area resident, graduating from Hornell High School. Bernice was retired as a Certified Nursing Assistant, working for the Hornell Gardens for 24 years, and later going on to provide private Home Health Care. She was a member of the Our Lady of the Valley Parish, and a communicant of St. Ann’s Church.
Bernice was a member of the Ladies Auxillary of the VFW, American Legion Auxillary in Arkport, as well as the Hornell Moose Lodge and the Ladies of the Moose. She also looked forward to the summer months, when she could tend to her yard and flower gardens.
She was predeceased by her husband William F. Greenthal in 1968 as well as her daughter Debora A. Greenthal- Leleck in 2008, 2 sisters Gloria Masterson and Catherine Ingalls.
She is survived by her sons Frederick (Susan) Greenthal of Alfred Station, Timothy (Cindy) Greenthal of Hornell, her brother Louis (Teresa) Pulkowsky of Hornell, 2 sisters Adeline Baird of Hornell, and Freida Kemp of Hornell, 5grandchildren William and Kirsten Greenthal both of Alfred Station, Jessie (Jason) Lee, Tiffany Leleck both of MS, and Seth (Amanda) Baker of CO, 2 great grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday (March 22, 2017) St Ann's Roman Catholic Church in Hornell, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery, in Hornell.
