Knights Creek Church will hold the event for area families
and individuals from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. September 15 at the Scio Lion's Pavilion
at the park on Vandermark Road (County Road 10), across from Scio Central
School. A dish-to-pass or dessert is
welcome but not necessary.
The activity, which church leadership says is designed to
bring community residents and neighbors together for a meal, fun and
fellowship, will feature games, along with music by David Peralta, the church's
music missionary and a member of the Simon Bolivar Venezuelan National Symphony
Orchestra.
Musical instruments also will be available for children and
adults to try, and the Scio Central School children's play area adjoins the
site.
The church currently offers a free community dinner after
weekly services on Sundays, followed by free music lessons for children and
adults conducted by its Venezuelan music ministry team led by Peralta and
including the Acevedo-Escriban family of Houghton.
Described as "The Country Church with the Heart of
Christ," Knights Creek also holds a 6 p.m. service on Sundays, a Bible
study at 6 p.m. Wednesdays, and community prayer from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.
each weekday for anyone who has concerns for which they would like to receive
prayer.
Celebrate Recovery/Celebrate Victory also is held from 7
p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturdays for adults of all ages who are struggling with any
type of hurts, hangups, habits or struggles, including common addictions, with
facilitators also being part of a team that goes into Allegany County Jail on
Tuesday nights to present Celebrate Recovery Inside to inmates.
