WELLSVILLE – Allegany County’s promising young professionals made connections with mentors in business, education, and government, and interacted with their peers, at the Allegany County Young Professionals Group Mentor Mixer on Thursday, September 20.
Over 50 young professionals met and interacted with nearly 20 mentors over hors d'oeuvres at the Wellsville Country Club. In addition to facilitating connections with other professionals, the evening’s event also included insight from mentor and Economic Developer at Allegany County, Craig Clark, on the importance of retaining and empowering young professionals in the Allegany County community, as well as wisdom from the event’s main speaker, Andy Glanzman.
Glanzman, an Allegany County mentor and the CEO and founder of the Northern Lights Candle Company and the Wellsville Creative Arts Center, encouraged young professionals to nourish their creativity, to not be afraid to share their ideas, and to seek out mentors that will take the time to shape them personally and professionally.
New Allegany County Young Professionals Group Board Chair, Tim Keenan, concluded the speaking portion of the evening by outlining the group’s upcoming events throughout the remainder of the fall and winter seasons, including a meet up at Swain Beer Festival in October, service activities across the county, and a wine and cheese holiday social event in December.
“We have a full slate of activities occurring throughout the fall and winter months to keep our young professionals engaged with the group, with each other, and with all the great locations and recreational activities available in Allegany County’s communities all year long,” said Keenan, “it’s our hope that our local young professionals will attend as many events as they can in locations all around the county and will bring their friends.”
“On behalf of the Allegany County Young Professionals Group, I want to extend my sincerest thanks to all the mentors who took the time to join us for this event and who have taken an interest in helping the next generation of leaders grow and succeed in our county,” said Keenan, “we felt that this event was a great success, and a big part of that success was having an enthusiastic group of mentors to help our cause – so thank you to them. I also want to extend a special thanks to our speaker, Andy Glanzman, for sharing his inspiring personal story of entrepreneurship and mentorship.”
The next Allegany County Young Professionals Group event will be a meet-up at the Swain Beer Fest on Saturday, October 20.
