Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard reports that on September 21, 2018, deputies arrested Wesley M. Grinnell, age 22, of Jennings Street, Corning, New York. It is alleged that Mr. Grinnell represented himself as another person to deputies, after operating a vehicle on SR 415 in Painted Post, New York. It is further alleged that Mr. Grinnell then fled from the police on foot into a wooded area. Investigation by deputies revealed that Mr. Grinnell was also allegedly wanted in Pennsylvania for assault, resisting arrest, larceny from a building and violation of probation. The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, Village of Painted Post Police and City of Corning Police worked in a cooperative joint effort to locate Mr. Grinnell approximately two hours later near Cutler Creek, in the Village of Riverside. Mr. Grinnell was charged with Resisting Arrest, Criminal Impersonation, Unlicensed Operation, Inadequate lamp and as a Fugitive from Justice. Mr. Grinnell was arraigned in the Town of Erwin Court and remanded to the Steuben County Jail without bail.
