WELLSVILLE, NY – The Wellsville Development Corporation
(WDC), a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit arm of the Wellsville Area Chamber of
Commerce, recently recognized a group of Allegany Arc individuals for their
dedication to watering the flower planters on Main Street in Wellsville.
“We are thrilled to be out in the community volunteering
with this project,” says April Gaylord who heads up Allegany Arc’s volunteer
watering group. “The watering team consists of eight people and we water two to
five times a week depending on the weather. It takes approximately 45 minutes
to thoroughly water the 14 planters.”
“The team looks forward to this volunteer project each
year,” says Gaylord. “Everyone enjoys being out in the community and we enjoy
watching the beautiful flowers grow and bloom.”
The WDC is a community-based corporation that focuses on
revitalization, economic development and beautification planning projects. The
Corporation consists of a committee of eight people with the mission of
contributing to the quality of life in Wellsville and bringing revitalization
and beauty to our community. Each summer, in pursuit of that goal, the WDC
purchases and maintains the beautiful planter boxes lining Main Street. WDC
fundraises throughout the year to expand the number of planters up and down
Main Street. While the planters are beautiful, it takes dedicated volunteers to
keep the flowers looking fresh and vibrant all summer long.
