Dorothy L. Allen, 97, formerly of Wellsville, NY passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Crestline Nursing Center, Crestline, OH.
Dorothy was born in Belfast, NY on June 10, 1921 to the late George and Anna (Bruce) Lang. She married Harold C. Allen on December 8, 1951 and he preceded her in death on June 1, 2011.
Dorothy and Harold retired in 1985 to Placida, FL. They thoroughly enjoyed those retirement years in Florida! Dorothy and Harold moved to the Crestline, OH area in July 2006. Dorothy was a wonderful mother and grandmother and adored spending time with her family and friends. She loved to work crossword puzzles, play cards and travel.
She is survived by her children, Ken (Kathy) Howden, Brookings, OR, Jim Allen & Maria Williams, Dyer, IN, Barb (Bob) Lee, Crestline, OH, Gary (Doreen) Allen, Jackson, CA; six grandchildren, Rod (Kirsten) Howden, Brendan Howden, Kyle (Shana) Howden, Jeremy (Angie) Allen, Rachel Allen, and Brian (Krystal) Lee; four great-grandchildren, Rucker & Karsten Allen, Alivia Lee, and Riley Howden; several nieces and nephews; and Cheryl Allen.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her son, Robert Howden, brothers, Howard Lang, William Lang, and Robert Lang; and her sister, Margaret Kaufman.
A memorial service honoring Dorothy and Harold Allen will be announced at a later date and held in Wellsville, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to Dyke Street Engine Company, Wellsville, NY in care of the funeral home.
