Recently an ad in a local newspaper defined the Sheriff’s opponent and his qualifications. A major item that was lacking was Volunteer Service to the citizens of Allegany County. Sheriff Whitney has not only been a leader at the Sheriff’s Office but a respected leader in Allegany County. He has been a long time member of the Lions Club, Masons, S.C.O.P.E. (for the preservation of our 2nd Amendment rights), the Allegany County Republican Committee, NRA and the NYS Sheriff’s Association. Being the Sheriff in Allegany County is much more than policing. Sheriff’s in Allegany County also need to be leaders in their Community and involved with their constituents.
Sheriff Whitney is currently serving as Treasurer of the
Bolivar Masonic Lodge #258 and he has served three times as the Master of the
Lodge in the past. He has twice been president of the Bolivar Lions Club and is
currently first vice District Governor of Lion’s District 20-E1. He has been
involved in the Allegany County Republican Party and is currently serving as
the District 3 Executive Chair. He also serves on several committees including
the Allegany County Elder Abuse Prevention Committee, Allegany County Suicide
Prevention Committee, Allegany County Traffic Safety Board and the Allegany
County Domestic Violence High Risk Response Team.
In a rural county like Allegany County people know the
importance of helping each other, and Rick Whitney exemplifies that attitude.
We need a well-rounded, thoughtful and involved Sheriff in Allegany County.
Sheriff Rick Whitney has the experience in policing, corrections, community
involvement and leadership that qualifies him to be our Sheriff. Please
remember to vote on Thursday September 13th, Primary Day between the hours of
Noon to 9:00 p.m.
Rick Hollis
District 1 Republican Executive Chair
