Obituary: Linda L. Dennis, 79, Hornell

Hornell - With sad and broken hearts, our family is saying “see you later” to our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Linda L. Dennis, who unexpectedly passed away on Wednesday, June 6th. She has gone to heaven where she has been reunited with her parents, Lynn and Eunice Brownell and will begin to help prepare a place for her childhood sweetheart and life-long partner of 65 years, Donnie.
Married for 62 years, mom supported and worked right alongside Dad on the farm, baling hay, running for parts, keeping the books and doing whatever else was needed. During her lifetime, Linda worked at JC Pennys, and at Bethesda Hospital and spent 23 years working as a Medical Records Technician at the Bath VA. She played the organ for church services for 35 years. Linda was an avid gardener; there was never a weed that stood a chance against Mom, and took pleasure in creating beautiful flower beds. Mom and Dad together raised five children and always made time to enjoy their 17 grandchildren, and 32 great-Grandchildren.
Lindy (Mom) loved her garden, her cats, her chocolate peanut butter ice cream, rocks, marching bands, her children, her grandchildren and great grandchildren but most of all, Mom loved being home with Dad.
Linda is survived by her husband Donald, 3 daughters; Donna (Robert) Wilson of Dansville, Connie (Allyn) Tubbs of Gouverneur, NY and Cynthia (Randy) French of Vanetten, NY, 2 sons; Rev. Donald (Kathy) Dennis of Michigan and Jeffrey (Pamela) Dennis of Arkport, 17 grandchildren; Robert (Kimberly) Wilson, Bryan (Megan) Wilson, Jeffrey (Holly) Wilson, Donald (Valerie) Tubbs, Anna (Gordon) Emery, Kathryn (Brad Grace) Tubbs, Steven Dennis, Jessica (Kevin) Johnson, David Herman, Dan (Angie) Herman, Heather (Todd) Blish, Cory (Karen) French, Jennifer Salsburg, Claire Salsburg, Andrew (Josette) Rowley, Michael Dennis, and Rebecca Dennis, as well as 32 great-grandchildren.

Despite being in chronic daily pain, Mom continued to do her best every day to stay upbeat. She prayed for each of us daily and her only requests were that we give her a hug before we left for home and we let her know when we got there. We know that Mom is in heaven without pain, “leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture” (Malachi 4:2), marching proudly behind “God’s Heavenly Band” and anticipating the day that we will all join her.
The family will be present to receive friends on Wednesday (June 13, 2018) from 10 a.m.-noon at the Bishopville United Methodist Church, where funeral services will be held immediately following calling hours at noon, Rev. Donald Dennis and Rev. Pam Carey officiating. Burial will be in the Canaseraga Cemetery at a later date.
Friends wishing to make a donation in honor of Linda may send a Contribution to the Hornell Area Humane Society or to the Bishopville United Methodist Church.
See you later, Mom.
