Richard A. Fanton, 80, of Scio, NY, died Friday, April 13,
2018 in his home. Born April 24, 1937,
in Wellsville, he was the son of Howard and Edith Harrington Fanton. On March 6, 1958, in Wellsville, NY, he
married the former Wanda G. Babbitt, who survives. He was employed by the L.C. Whitford Co. for
41 years as a local #66 union carpenter and supervisor before retiring. He and his wife owned and operated Dick’s Gun
Shop for 32 years. Dick was an avid
sportsman, life member of the Scio Rod & Gun Club, NRA, Turkey Federation,
and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
He most enjoyed spending time with his family and pets. Surviving besides his wife, Wanda, are: two children, Richard H. (Judith) Fanton and
Cynthia (Arthur) Marion; seven
grandchildren, Jason Marion, Jolene Marion, Thomas Fanton, Sara Root, Kyle
Fanton, Jeff Crittenden, and Jenny Goodridge;
several great-grandchildren; two
brothers, Gary (Donna) Fanton and Phil Fanton;
nieces and nephews. He was
predeceased by a son, Timothy E. Fanton, on April 30, 2016. Friends may call at
the Genesis Bible Church on Thursday, April 19, 2018 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.,
with Funeral Services following at 4:00 p.m.
The Rev. Marc Chamberlain will officiate. A luncheon and time of fellowship will follow
the funeral. Memorials may be made to
