Obituary: David B. Smith, 86, Hammondsport

Hammondsport - David B. Smith, 86, of Glenbrook Road, passed away peacefully Friday (April 13, 2018) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester as a result of injuries sustained in an auto accident on March 28, 2018.
Born in Somers, New York on February 4, 1932, the son of Frank and Isabelle Barrie Smith, and was raised in Potter County, PA. where he grew potatoes, and raised cattle and sheep. His love for Potter County never left him. He had resided in Hammondsport for over 50 years. He had been self employed as a farmer and Woodsman. David enjoyed hunting.
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife of 52 years Elizabeth Smith, his son; Scott Smith and his brother; Ralph Smith.
He is survived by two daughters; Peggy (Joseph) Streacher and Colleen (Charles) Ohl, both of Allentown, Pennsylvania, Three sons; David Smith of Addison, Paul (Shawn) Smith of Addison and Jack (Loretta) Smith of Hammondsport, his sister Shirley Ann Leete of Coudersport, Pennsylvania, 20 Grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren, and his special canine friend “Haley”.

Honoring David’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Hammondsport.
