Wellsville, NY - Gladys Marion Hornburg, 96, of 2938 Truax Road, passed away on Friday, June 16, 2017 while visiting her son in Kentucky. She was born on March 25, 1921 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of the late Charles Edward and Lottie (Freeman) Flint. On April 9, 1940 Gladys moved from Scio to Wellsville in 1938 and graduated from Wellsville High School. She was first employed at Worthington Corporation in Wellsville from 1940 to 1951, J. J. Newberry’s from 1951 to 1954, and later for the Brown and Stout Insurance Agency from 1961, to her retirement in 1982. She was affiliated with the Brookside Wesleyan Church in Wellsville.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and reading, and loved (and
was very good at) Rummikub and watching the Yankees. She was also very proud of
the fact that after retirement, she and her husband worked together making
wooden crafts in their shop.
She is survived by a son, Gary (Debbie) Hornburg of Ashland,
KY, a daughter, Janice (George) Givens of Andover, three grandchildren,
Maribeth (Shannon) Hausey, Ashland, KY, Dennis Givens and Christi Brewster both
of Andover, three great grandchildren, Danielle Armfield, Michelle Schweigart
and Marc Givens, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in
addition to her parents and husband by her step-mother, Gertrude Graham Flint,
two sisters, Dorothea Griffiths, and Irene (Ken) Washburn and one brother,
Charles W. Flint.
Friends are invited to call on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 from
2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday, June 22nd from 10:00 to
11:00 a.m. at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville. The
funeral will follow visitation on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home
with Rev. Daniel Milroy of the Victory Baptist Church in Albion presiding.
Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Scio. Please consider memorial donations
