Obituary: Barbara Lucille Reisman, 83, Wellsville

Her children are deeply grateful for her teaching and her example

Barbara Lucille Reisman, 83, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Sunday (June 18, 2017) at home.
Mrs. Reisman was born on Nov. 2, 1933 in Independence to Louis and Viola (Clark) Waters. She was a 1951 graduate of Whitesville Central School. On Dec. 7, 1951, in Andover, she married Pastor Leo E. Reisman, who predeceased her on April 11. 1991. On Dec. 27, 1996, in West Jasper, she married Ferdinand L. “Ferd” Reisman, who predeceased her on Aug. 15, 2010.
Barbara was a proud stay at home wife and mother to her thirteen children.
Barbara is survived by her 13 children, Don (Gwen) Reisman of Jasper, Pam (Mark) Ahrens of Hornell, Leonard (Darla) Reisman of Greenwood, Pastor Marty (Debbie) Reisman of Genesse, Pa., Rodney (Cheryl) Reisman of Leesburg, Fla.; Randy (Lori) Reisman of Leesburg, Fla., Bradley (Nerissa) Reisman of Arkport, Lisa (Tom) Bailey of Batavia, Faith (Ron) Davenport of Scio, Elizabeth (Arnold) Waters of Greenwood, Matthew (Valerie) Reisman of Bear Creek, N.C., Richard (Amy) Reisman of Umatilla, Fla. and Dixie (Bill) Syx of Pittsboro, N.C.; two brothers, Donald (Mary) Waters of Whitesville and Jack (Ruth) Waters of Corning; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Waters of Whitesville and Wilma Waters of Woodhull; a cousin and great friend, Cheri Feller of Wellsville; 39 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to both of her husbands, she was predeceased by two brothers, Richard Waters and Charlie Waters; one grandson, Nicholas Ahrens; and one granddaughter, Nicole Ahrens.
While Barbara was a hard worker, she enjoyed many things in life. It was not unusual to find her watching cooking shows. She then shared her knowledge by cooking for others in her life. Sunday dinner at her house was a regular happy family event. Her children were particularly fond of her cinnamon rolls, yeast rolls, and donuts. That no one left her home hungry is a testament to her love of cooking and her kind heart. Barbara enjoyed talking with friends and family on the phone. She was a pleasant person and her conversations were encouraging and uplifting. She was very fond of her canine friends, Daisy and Pearl. One of her favorite pastimes was reading Christian books, in particular the Amish-themed novels.
Barbara believed that prayer was vital to her Christian walk and her family benefited from her prayers all throughout her life. She loved her Bible and spent great amounts of time reading it and studying it. The clearest image of Barbara to her children was that she was the most Godly person they knew. They are deeply grateful for her teaching and her example.
