CANISTEO, NY – Sometimes it's up to small, local businesses to step up in times of need. When a member of the police force gets injured, it affects the entire community. Just one month ago, Trooper Craig Foglia, a 14-year veteran with the NY State Police, was tragically injured when he was struck on the side of I-86 in Campbell. To offer community-wide support and to help Trooper Foglia with his recovery, The Signal 30 Benefit Fund for Craig Foglia will be hosted by Cider Creek Hard Cider on June 30th from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. with support from the NYS Trooper’s Police Benevolent Association.
Fortunately, Trooper Foglia’s condition is improving, but there is still an immense need for support. Melanie and Kevin Collins, owners of Cider Creek Hard Cider and their team want to show support for Trooper Foglia by raising donations with help from the community. "We believe it's important to show support for those who dedicate their lives to protecting us, our families and our business," says Melanie. "The community has shown an overwhelming amount of support for our benefit with their donations and Trooper Foglia's friends and family are also very involved in the benefit. I've heard from many in the community who have said that they wanted to do something, but didn't know how to help and this benefit gives them that opportunity."
The event will feature a pig roast dinner, live music, a bonfire and a Silent Auction.
The main event will be the Silent Auction which will take place most of the evening, ending at 9pm. So far, over 50 items have donated items to the silent auction by local businesses across Western NY and the Southern Tier. Cider Creek Hard Cider is graciously accepting more. If you are a local business and have an item you would like to donate to the Silent Auction, please contact Melanie Collins at melanie@cidercreekhardcider. com.
“If you are unable to attend the event, but would still like to donate,” adds Melanie, “or if you are a business and want to contribute but don't have an item that can be used in the silent auction - you can donate online at https://signal30.org/ online-donations. Be sure you put in the specific fundraising event box ‘Craig Foglia’s fundraiser’ so the funds will be distributed accordingly. If you prefer to write a check, make it out to ‘Signal 30 Benefit Fund’ and mail it to Susan Streb at 120 State St. Albany, NY 12207. Please indicate on your check that it is for the Craig Foglia Fundraiser.”
Tickets at the door are $20, and 100 percent of proceeds will be donated directly to Trooper Foglia. Larger donations are accepted, and if you would like to contribute in any way, please donate online at https://signal30.org/online- donations. Label the fundraising event box as “Craig Foglia’s fundraiser” so donations will be distributed accordingly. You can also write a check to “Signal 30 Benefit Fund” and mail it to Susan Streb at 120 State St. Albany, NY 12207. Please indicate that the check is dedicated to the Craig Foglia Fundraiser.
The NYS Troopers PBA was created in 2005 as a Trooper’s radio call for help. The goal of the association was to support NYS Troopers when immediate reaction is required, such as the medical emergency of Trooper Foglia. In coordination with the Signal 30 Benefit Fund, donations support the Trooper, their families and other law enforcement officials as necessary.
