Obituary: Delores D. Ackerman, 75, Willing REVISED


Delores D. Ackerman, 75, of State Rte. 19 South, Wellsville, passed away unexpectedly Monday, June 12, 2017 in her home. Born May 29, 1942, in Wellsville, she was the daughter of John K. and Ruth Easton Amidon.  On December 29, 1962, in Wellsville, she married Robert C. Ackerman, who survives.
A graduate of Wellsville Central School, she earned multiple degrees from Alfred State College, where she was employed in various positions for over 20 years.  She was also employed by Carpet Town and with Allegany County Worker’s Comp.
In her spare time, she was twice president of the Wellsville Central and BOCES school boards, a member of NYS Rural Schools, as well as Area 3 Director of Western New York school boards.  She had devoted over 25 years to education and was a current member of the Southern Tier Library Association. 
She was a member of the ARC board, and a former president and past member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority, as well as a prior member of the Genesee Valley Chorus. 
She enjoyed spending time with her family, participating in her ladies card club, golfing, and working as the secretary for the Wellsville Balloon Rally for over nine years.

Surviving, besides her husband, Bob, are:  her daughter, Dianna Ackerman of Wellsville;  three sons, Robert of Olean, Thomas (Dawn) of Fuquay-Varina, NC, and David (Elizabeth) of Gilbert, AZ;  her grandchildren, Ariana, Jillian, Jared, Robert Jr., Elyse, and Mitchell;  her sister, Barbara;  brothers, David Amidon of Wellsville and John (Carolyn) of Glendale, AZ;  and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her parents. 
Honoring her request, there will be no visitation or services.  The interment will be at the family's convenience.
