Obituary: Mary G. "Mitzi" Stout, 85, Wellsville

Wellsville, NY - Mary G. “Mitzi” Stout, 85, formerly of Pine Street, passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2017 following a sudden illness. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Kathryn Gasdik. In 1951 she married Carlton Stout who predeceased her in 1966.
Mitzi was a 1950 graduate of Wellsville High School. She was formerly employed at Rite Aid and Woolworth’s in Wellsville and from 1975 to 2000 she was the Wellsville Town Clerk. She served as president of the Brooklyn School PTA, and was the registrar for the Girl Scouts. She was a member of the Jones Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, the Wellsville High School Alumni Association, a charter member of the Allegany County Young Republicans, and was an election inspector. She was a lifelong member of the Immaculate Conception Church, where she taught religious education, was a member of the choir, and was active with the annual Fun Fair. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, Gamma Phi chapter. Her awards include Award of Excellence from the Wellsville Town Board in 1999.
She is survived by three children, Louise (Rev. Lenny) Anderson of Vancouver, WA, Larry (Terry) Stout of North Tonawanda, and Laura (Jim) Cornell of Norman, OK, a granddaughter, Christine Stout, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in addition to her parents and husband by two brothers, Edward Gasdik and Joseph (Cis) Gasdik, and two sisters, Irene (James) Wasson and Virginia (Edward) Keneske. Mitzi felt blessed to have so many close friends and neighbors in the Wellsville community.
Friends are invited to call on Sunday, June 18th from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 19th at 11:00 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
