L-R: Wicker, LeFave

INTERSTATE 390: Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of two people on drug related charges through the Operation Safe Interstate initiative on Interstate 390 in Livingston County. On January 16, 2017 Deputy Shawn Whitford stopped a vehicle on Interstate 390 for several alleged vehicle and traffic law violations. Upon approaching the vehicle, the Deputy Sheriff allegedly observed drug paraphernalia in plain view.

The driver, 20 year old Ryan T. Wicker from Geneseo, and passenger, 31 year old Jared S. LeFave from Mount Morris, were interviewed and a roadside drug investigation ensued.

Deputy Connor Sanford responded to assist with the roadside investigation.  Through the Deputies investigation, they discovered several hypodermic needles in the vehicle, as well as used glassine bags of heroin.   The items were seized as evidence.

Wicker was charged with Criminal Possession of a Hypodermic Instrument and traffic tickets. Lefave was charged with Criminal Possession of a Hypodermic Instrument and Criminal Possession of Drug Paraphernalia in the 2nd Degree.

Wicker is currently on State Parole and LeFave is currently on County Probation.  Both Parole and Livingston County Probation were advised.

Wicker and LeFave were taken into custody and turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention.

Wicker and LeFave were both arraigned in Avon Town Court on January 17th before Justice Piampiano.  The Judge did remand both men to the custody of the Sheriff.   Wicker’s bail set at $500 (five hundred) cash or $1,000 bond.  Parole also issued a detainer to hold Wicker at the Livingston County Jail without bail for the alleged violation of Parole.  LeFave’s set at $5,000 (five thousand) cash or $10,000 bond.
