Belfast man charged with heroin possession

Avon: Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports two more arrests as a result of the Operation Safe Interstate initiative. On January 19, 2017 at around 7:00 p.m., Deputy Shawn Whitford stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation on Rt. 390 in the Town of Avon. During the course of the traffic stop, Deputy Whitford alleged that the driver of the car, 42 year old William J. Marble from Springwater, NY was in possession of a plastic bag containing marijuana.  Marble was released after being issued tickets for the equipment violation and for Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. Further investigation by Deputy Whitford revealed that the passenger in the car, 37 year old Wesley C. Histed from Belfast, NY was allegedly  in possession of three (3) bags of heroin.  Histed was arrested for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th and was turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention. Histed was arraigned before Justice Torregiano in Avon Town Court.   The Judge remanded Histed to the custody of the Sheriff on $250 cash and $500 bond.
