She was preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Whipple,
Marjorie Colley and Shirley Conway. Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday
(Jan. 29, 2017) at the Bolivar United Methodist Church. Funeral and committal services
will be held following visitation at 5 p.m. Mrs. Herne’s son, David, will
officiate. Burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery Bolivar. Memorials may be made
to the B.R.A.G. Historical Society, 390 Main St., Bolivar, NY 14715; or to a
charity of the donor’s choice. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the
Schaffner Funeral Home Inc., Bolivar.

Obituary: Janet Eva Presher Herne, 80, Bolivar
BOLIVAR — Janet Eva Presher Herne, of 351 Main St., passed
away Wednesday (Jan. 25, 2017) at the home of her son following a brief
illness. Born on Sept. 14, 1936, in Bolivar, she was a daughter of Richard J.
and Ruth Jackson Presher and the stepdaughter of Ruth Morrison Presher. Janet
married David Loel Herne on May 25, 1954, in Richburg. Mr. Herne preceded her
in death Dec. 17, 1995. She was a graduate of the Bolivar Central School, Class
of 1953, and was a graduate of Faith Emmanuel Bible Institute. Along with her
husband, she owned and operated Dave’s TV and Sons in Bolivar for 35 years,
retiring in 1996. Janet’s memberships include Southside Union Chapel, Olean;
4Cs Seniors Citizens Club, Bolivar, the B.R.A.G. Historical Society, Bolivar;
and the RichburgWirt Historical Society. She was a life member of Odosagih
Bible Conference and a member of the board of directors of Heritage AFlame
Ministries in Bolivar. Surviving are three children, Kathy Brokaw of Niskayuna,
David (Daisy) Herne of Bolivar and Brad (Dawn) Herne of Little Genesee; 10
grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, James (Marcia) Presher of New
Hampshire; two sisters, Jeanie (Kerry) Nice of Florida and Chris (Ken) McNeil,
Eldred, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
