Just before 2 a.m., Canaseraga firefighters were dispatched to a "fully involved" house fire at 8917 County Road 52. Initially, two residents were not accounted for although they were eventually found. The first chief on scene reported flames had consumed the second story and were working towards the first floor. Extra help, volunteers and equipment, was called in from Arkport, Freemont, North Hornell, Dansville and South Dansville. An ambulance was requested for at least one injury. Nunda was brought in to cover the Canaseraga district. At 2:45 a.m., the Red Cross was requested to the scene. NYSEG also responded when live power lines broke free. Allegany County Fire Coordinator Jeff Luckey also responded. No word on the cause.
Canaseraga fire units returned to service at 7:27 a.m.
