CUBA — Betty Ann Prentice, 82, of 8988 County Rd. 20, Cuba,
passed away Monday (Jan. 16, 2017) at Buffalo General Hospital after a brief
illness. Born on December 20, 1934, in Brokenstraw, Pa., she was a daughter of
Harold A. and Ruth L. Morris Mead. On Oct. 31, 1953, in the Belfast United
Methodist Church, she married Leslie D. “Pete” Prentice, who survives.
Betty was employed by Motorola Inc. of Arcade for 21 years
and after that worked as a cook for Cuba Hospital, a dishwasher at the Kopper
Keg, and also for the Perry Knitting Mill in Fillmore, prior to her retirement. In retirement she
enjoyed living in Titusville, Florida with her husband for four years prior to
returning to Cuba. She enjoyed puzzles, crocheting, reading, but most of all
enjoyed when all of her family was together, especially at the holidays.
In addition to her husband of 63 years she is survived by
her children, Connie (Terry) Stives of Friendship, Paul (Donna Czesak) Prentice
of Rushford, Brian (Bonnie) Prentice of Holland, Ricky Prentice of Yorkshire,
Michael (Kelly Dreilling) Prentice of Centerville; eight grandchildren; 14
great-grandchildren; five sisters, Virginia Carpenter of Alabama, Dorothy
(Jesse) Bedow of Friendship, Anna (Jack)
Tiltson of North Carolina, Alice (Lee) Banks of Virginia, Carole (Dean) Nelson
of Maryland; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a
daughter-in-law, Brenda Prentice on Oct.
8, 2010; a brother, Donnie Leonard; and a sister, Marilyn Lockwood.
At Mrs. Prentice’s request there will be no visitation or
funeral services.
