Press Release: Veterans One Stop and the Hornell Elks Lodge 364

Veterans One Stop and the Hornell Elks Lodge 364 are excited to invite you to the 2024 Freedom Festival, a 12-County Veterans Family Picnic and Information Fair.  This special event is set up to honor our veterans and their families. This celebration will take place on July 20, 2024, from Noon to 4:00 PM at Kanakadea Park, located at CR 66 Webbs Crossing Road, Hornell, NY 14843 and is Operated by Parks Devising, Steuben County Department of Public Works.


The day will be simple with a Stearns BBQ Dinner, Water provided by Wegmans, Face painting, and games for the kids, and the NY National Guard will be providing an inflatable Obstacle Course for everyone’s enjoyment.  Additionally, the day will be filled with live Music by Poke the Bear that has been provided by the Hornell VFW along with DJ Broadway Bushie filling in during breaks & providing sound. 


We welcome service agencies, organizations, businesses, fraternities, etc. to set up booths providing free information and essential services to veterans and their families. Potential vendor offerings can include, but are not limited to:  Health Care Services,  Housing Solutions,  Employment Assistance,  Legal Aid,  Educational Materials, and free giveaways, & don't forget your ID as Parks & Recreation will be on site providing Lifetime Liberty Passes.   Any organization wishing to table at the event it is free of charge please contact us to reserve a space e-mail elks364freedomfestival@gmail.com.  


Due to the large service area, we have to cap the event at 300 people; Veterans are required to pre-register themselves and all family members attending either online at www.vocwny.org or by calling 716-898-0110; you may also scan the QR Code on posters and Social Media Sites.  If the event is full, you will be notified via email and will have the option to request to be put on the waitlist, in the event that space becomes available. Those on the waitlist will receive first consideration and priority for participation in future scheduling of the event.
