Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced a bridge replacement project will begin in Sergeant Township, McKean County, on Monday, June 24. This project will replace an existing single span bridge structure on Route 2001 (Clermont Road) spanning Smith Run approximately four miles southwest of Clermont, upgrading the ride quality and safety of the bridge, and improving the overall condition rating.
Preliminary work, including installation of erosion and sediment controls, and tree trimming will begin Wednesday, June 26, utilizing flaggers and signing for traffic control during daylight hours. PennDOT will close Route 2001 and implement a detour when removal of the bridge begins. An update will be issued prior to implementation of the detour.
In addition to replacement of the bridge structure, roadway reconstruction, pavement, drainage upgrades, and guide rail replacement will be included in this project for a total length of 347 feet.
Dean Construction LLC. of Smethport, PA is the contractor on this $722,000 project. PennDOT anticipates completion in August, but all work is weather dependent.
