DEC Seeks Public Assistance in Identifying Owners of Stolen Trail Cameras

Thefts Date Back to 2016, Focused on Southern Genesee County, and Northern Wyoming County

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is seeking the public's assistance in identifying owners of stolen trail cameras. The thefts allegedly occurred from 2016 to the present in Southern Genesee County and Northern Wyoming County. DEC recently recovered the cameras through an ongoing investigation.

The DEC Environmental Conservation Police Bureau of Environmental Crimes Investigation is interested in speaking with potential victims. To report a trail camera that was stolen during this time period, contact Lieutenant Kevin Thomas at kevin.thomas@dec.ny.gov with a description of the trail camera, where it was located, and a serial number if available.
