Siemen’s Energy, formerly Dresser-Rand, is expected to shutter its manufacturing operations in Olean next year. Employees were told Tuesday afternoon during a ‘Town hall’ type virtual meeting. One hundred jobs are headed out of town while another 400+ workers will be laid off. Some jobs will remain in Olean, mainly engineering positions. Last year, the manufacturing facility in Wellsville was shuttered by Siemen’s while the ‘office’ positions shifted to Olean, which is now in chaos.
According to the Times Herald, the Olean facility currently
employs approximately 860 workers, while the Painted Post facility employs
around 350. 100 jobs will be transferred to other facilities, including
Siemen's operations in Painted Post, while around 430 will be laid off.
