BREAKING: Deadly fire in West Almond

One person has been killed in an early morning blaze in West Almond.  At 3:10 a.m. today, Angelica, Belmont, Belfast, Almond and Rushford fire departments were called to 3248 County Road 2A. The initial 911 dispatch indicated that a person may have been trapped inside. One fire chief told dispatch that the building had collapsed. State Police Public Information Officer Trooper James O’Callaghan issued this statement to Wellsville Regional News: “On February 12, 2021 at approximately 4:45 A.M., State Police out of SP Amity responded to a house fire on County Road 2A in the town of West Almond. One person confirmed deceased and the identity will be released once identified. This is still an ongoing investigation.” Allegany County Fire Coordinator Jeff Luckey, along with Investigators, were expected to remain at the scene much of the day.

UPDATE: The victim has been identified as Frances L. Struble, 79.
