Police Reform regarding the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office

Pursuant to Executive Order 203, Governor Cuomo directed all municipalities in New York State to submit a plan with suggestions on how to improve services and increase trust between the police and the community. To that end, Allegany County is seeking feedback regarding the public’s experiences and opinions of the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office. 

Public input may be submitted in the following format: 

-Email to: policereform@alleganyco.com 

-Letters addressed to: Police Reform Committee, Room 213, 7 Court Street, Belmont, NY 14813 

-Online response to survey questions: https://forms.gle/RD7kbqDUMYgKLBBd7 

-Participating in a virtual community forum held on February 18, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. through Zoom. Those interested in participating may receive a link to the meeting by contacting Michelle Denhoff by email at denhoffmm@alleganyco.com or by phone at 585-268-7153.

Public response will be reviewed by the Allegany County Police Reform Committee and used to develop recommendations for changes to the operations of the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office. 

While we know police reform is a big subject, please remember that the focus of this specific Committee is solely on the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office, and the most helpful information you can provide this committee will be specific to your experiences and opinions of the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office.
